Founder & Co-Executive Director
Patti is a visionary social entrepreneur who measures success in “Returns to Society”.
Patti and her husband spent thirty years of their lives running a successful taxi services in suburban Chicago. Then, in 2009, when the financial collapse of America began, Patti felt it was time for her to return to the workforce, but this time, with a much bigger idea. She found a way through market principals to blend a successful profitable business with an NPO while remaining in a familiar industry. And so, Cabs for the Cure was born through Pink Taxi.
It has been an amazing journey for the 63-year-old cancer survivor to see this idea come to fruition. It has not been an easy climb with all of the latest transportation competition, but it has been exciting for her. When asked for her motto, she will tell you, “When you think taxi, think PINK.”
Director of Operations
Mike has been involved in the traditional taxi industry for over twenty years. He started as a driver, then became a fleet owner, building his fleet to over 25 cars. Mike soon moved into office management, including training drivers, procuring insurance for drivers, cashiering, car inspection, dispatching, and specialized order fulfillment for special needs students. Mike was an instrumental figurehead in working with Yellow Taxi of Chicago as Vice President from its inception to start Metro Yellow / Checker serving the suburbs of Chicago.
Mike brings a hands on approach to our management team with his vast experiences in all facets of the industry.
Mike’s wife, Jean, is a 21-year survivor of Breast Cancer and has been Patti’s best friend since fourth grade. He and his wife have four children and reside in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Peggy Brosnan has been married to her husband John for 25 years and is the mother of 5 boys ranging in age from 11 to 22 years old. She has been a registered nurse for the past 27 years, and while she has focused her efforts on medical product sales, she has also worked as an infusion nurse with a specialty in oncology. She is also an avid runner and loves the outdoors, including skiing, hiking, playing basketball with her kids, and any other activity that involves fun and exercise. Peggy also loves competing in triathlons, mud runs, and 5Ks.
4 years ago, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she tackled her diagnosis with the same positive energy and strength that she brings to every aspect of her life. Following multiple surgeries and aggressive chemotherapy treatments, she knew that she wanted to help others who would have to endure the same. Her “can-do” approach to her cancer treatments have served as an inspiration to many, and she has exceeded her goal of coming out of her diagnosis better than ever. Peggy now works with others like herself so that they can come through their journey with the same zest and vigor that she brought to her treatment and recovery.
Peggy has recently partnered with her friend, Patti Carpenter, to create the “Cabs for the Cure” foundation, whose mission is to assist with the transportation needs of those undergoing chemotherapy and having to attend doctor’s appointments and medical testing relating to their treatments.
